I’m thrilled and humbled and grateful to say that my poem, “Describe the Situation in Specific Detail,” was chosen as the winner of So to Speak‘s annual poetry contest. I’m especially thrilled because I so respect all of the good work that So to Speak has done for feminist writing. Many, many thanks to Diane Seuss and the staff at So to Speak! You can read a portion of the poem and a bit from me about how and why I made it here, and you can see the full poem in a limited-run print edition, due out in March 2016.
I happen to have some more exciting news about March of 2016 headed your way, but, in the meantime, here’s the closest I could come to a photograph of Gertrude Stein in holiday cheer gear:

Congratulations! I look forward to reading the full poem, but the line “He always guessed in increments of five” is a delicious taste of perfection. Thank you!
